The Medical Society is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the primary care task force and applauds the group’s recommended primary care investment targets. Focused investment in primary care will improve patient care, lead to overall cost savings, and steadily relieve pressure on our stressed and overburdened health care infrastructure.
The recommendations have been developed by experts immersed in the primary care crisis and reflect the urgency of the situation. Complementary policies are needed to create administrative efficiencies, which will improve access to care and generate savings to reinvest.
We look forward to continuing the work of the task force to develop further recommendations that are needed to support a sustainable path to promote equitable, continuous access to affordable primary care for all patients in Massachusetts.
