WALTHAM – Dr. Annie Abraham, a Shrewsbury resident and an exceptional physician with a distinguished background in internal medicine, has been selected by the Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) as the 2025 recipient of its Senior Volunteer Physician of the Year Award, which recognizes a senior member of the society who has shown a dedicated commitment to direct patient care volunteerism in Massachusetts and to sharing medical experience and expertise.
Dr. Abraham has been a volunteer at the St Anne's Free Medical Program in Shrewsbury for six years. She is noted for treating patients with impressive kindness and compassion and models and teaches these attitudes to the medical student volunteers from UMass Chan Medical School and medical residents from St. Vincent Hospital.
For the past 15 years, Dr. Abraham has also actively supported Advocates, an organization that serves the disabled population, including building community awareness and improving the lives of the disabled.
Dr. Abraham, a graduate of the Christian Medical College, Vellore, India and is board-certified in internal medicine. She has been a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society for 34 years.
