Philip A. Feinberg (UMass Medical School, 2022) was named a predoctoral fellow by Autism Speaks, a global nonprofit organization. Mr. Feinberg, an MD/PhD student at UMass Medical School, was among 26 researchers selected for the two-year fellowship to advance autism research. Mr. Feinberg plans to use the grant funding in the labs of Dorothy P. Schafer, PhD, and Jean A. Frazier, MD, to further investigate inflammatory microglia and new treatments for Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Marissa R. Mastrocola, MD (UMMS, 2019; residency: UMMS), Sebastian Roque (TUSM, 2021), and Fatima Cody Stanford, MD, MPH, MPA, FAAP, FACP, FTOS (Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, 2007; residency: Palmetto Health Richland Hospital; fellowship: MGH), coauthored the paper “Obesity education in medical schools, residencies, and fellowships throughout the world: a systematic review,” which was published in the International Journal of Obesity. Dr. Mastrocola and Mr. Roque, who were student members on the MMS Committee on Nutrition and Physical Activity, collaborated with committee chair Dr. Stanford, an obesity medicine physician-scientist at MGH and an assistant professor in medicine and pediatrics at HMS.

Armando Paez, MD, FACP, FIDSA (University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, 1999; residency: Cleveland Clinic; fellowship: Baystate Medical Center), was elected as a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA). IDSA fellows, who are nominated by their peers, have achieved professional excellence, provided significant service to the profession, and are leaders within the field. Dr. Paez is division chief of Infectious Disease at Baystate Medical Center and an assistant professor of medicine at UMass Medical School–Baystate.

Sahdev R. Passey, MD (Gandhi Medical College at Bhopal University, 1973; residency: Worcester City Hospital), was named Senior Volunteer Physician of the Year by the MMS. Dr. Passey guided the founding and opening of the Free Health Stop in Shrewsbury, which provides health care to the underserved and uninsured in the local community. Dr. Passey has been honored with the Key to the City of Worcester, the Community Clinician of the Year Award from the Worcester District Medical Society, and a citation for community service from former Massachusetts governor William Weld. Dr. Passey is a pediatrician at Quality Kids Kare, PC, and the president of the Worcester District Medical Society.

Torunn I. Yock, MD (HMS, 1998; residency: MGH), was elected as a fellow of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) alongside MGH Department of Radiation colleague Helen A. Shih, MD. The ASTRO Fellows program recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of radiation oncology and ASTRO through research, education, and patient care. Dr. Yock is the director of Pediatric Radiation Oncology, the chair of Radiation Oncology Quality Assurance at MGH, and a professor at HMS.
